Around half the population in Fiji Islands are Indo-Fijians and today is one of the most important days of the year for the Indian community. Diwali - also known as the Festival of Lights - is a day of family celebration throughout Fiji. Homes and businesses are festooned with lights and decorations, and kitchens have been busy preparing plates of colourful sweet and savoury morsels.
