Aircraft like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner (B787) can fly in excess of 8,500 nautical miles non-stop, which would bring Fiji Islands within range of more distant locations such as Sao Paulo in Brazil. There are many existing routes across the Pacific between Asia and the West Coast of North America. However, for deeper penetration into the USA (without a stop at the heavily congested west coast), there is an opportunity for a way point like Fiji. Using Fiji as an intermediate point, flights out of Australia, Singapore and New Zealand could reach Chicago (the third largest city in the USA non-stop from Nadi.
This would undoubtedly provide much easier access to Fiji Islands vacations for those on the mid-Eastern seaboard of North America.
