Café Bula Re (pronounced boo-lah ray) only uses fresh ingredients and start cooking by order, so don’t expect 'fast food' at this friendly and bright restaurant on the waterfront at Savusavu Bay in Fiji Islands. Owners Tanda Rainibogi and her husband Tukai first opened their business across the road on the main street, but moved to the waterfront location, where ceiling fans, an indoor seating area and a pleasant outdoor dining deck allow patrons to enjoy a variety of tasty meals of European and Fijian influence, while taking in the picturesque view of the Savusavu Bay.
The café has an Italian espresso machine to serve good Italian coffee (espresso, cappuccino, latte, mocha) and decaffeinated coffee is also available, along with a variety of teas or iced tea, soft drinks, milkshakes, beer and wines (by the bottle or the glass).
Meal prices (current for Dec 2006) are modest, with hot breakfast with juice ranging from FJ$5 - $7.50, main lunch and dinner courses from around FJ$9-$19.00, and desserts from FJ$6.50 – $10.00. Soups and salads are also on the menu.
If you are vegetarian, there are a number of interesting and creative options available.
'Bula Re' is the local dialect way of saying hello .. compared with the word 'Bula' heard elsewhere in Fiji.
